Netflix and Chilled: AB InBev Pours Into Streamer’s Pop Culture Pipeline

AB InBev is trading ad interruptions for screen time, serving up its beer brands—like Bud Light and Stella Artois—directly within Netflix programming through a new, multi-year global partnership. From British crime capers like The Gentlemen to cooking competitions in South Korea, the brewer will integrate brands into storylines and settings where a cold one might actually make sense. Limited-edition beer packaging will also double as mini-billboards for Netflix content, as seen recently in Mexico with Cerveza Victoria’s tie-in for the Canelo vs. Crawford fight.

The deal isn’t just about product cameos—it signals AB InBev’s ambition to become more of a cultural guest than a commercial interrupter. Global CMO Marcel Marcondes is steering the ship with an eye on fandom-fueled experiences, not thirty-second spots. About 57% of InBev’s revenue comes from “megabrands” like Michelob Ultra and Modelo, which now have a dedicated team embedded within Netflix to build integrations that feel less like ads and more like the emotional moments beers typically chase in traditional media. All this as Netflix looks to double its ad revenue and supercharge its 94 million-user ad-supported tier by 2025.

The partnership is also going live—literally—with beer placements planned for Netflix’s NFL Christmas Day games and broader campaigns around global events like the 2027 Women’s World Cup. But don’t expect AB InBev to ghost the Super Bowl; they’ll still show up where beer naturally belongs. The brand’s bet? That co-starring in cultural moments will keep its legacy brands relevant—and give them Netflix’s proven halo effect, from Barbie-level buzz to Squid Game spectacle.
