Dollar General is expanding in-store audio ads to 6,000 additional stores across 48 states through QSIC, a platform that uses point-of-sale data, curated music, and AI-generated ads to plan and manage what plays over the speakers.
According to Parade, the rollout will bring Dollar General’s total number of in-store audio locations to 12,000 by Q2 2026. That is more than half of the company’s 20,000-plus stores across the U.S. and Mexico as of Jan. 30, 2026, including Dollar General, DG Market, DGX, and Popshelf. The future of retail media, apparently, includes being followed around by a very monetized ceiling speaker.
QSIC’s pitch is the familiar retail media one, just broadcast at aisle level: verified ad delivery, performance data, and reporting that gives brand partners a clearer view of how their ads are running. QSIC CEO Matt Elsley frames it as a response to the fact that “approximately 85 percent of sales” still happen in-store, calling physical retail “the most valuable media channel,” and says the platform connects marketing investment to “real-world results.”
Dollar General can “reach around 350 million shoppers per month globally” through QSIC, which is a number that invites follow-up questions about what is being counted, where, and how often someone buying paper towels becomes a media impression.
The move is positioned as part of Dollar General’s broader retail media buildout under DG Media Network. VP and GM Austin Leonard emphasized “localized, real-time messaging at scale” and said the platform can help reach “underserved and often overlooked rural areas.” Dollar General also claims roughly 75% of Americans live within five miles of one of its stores.
