🎸 AI & Advertising: A Rock Opera Takes on the Robots

“Welcome to the Future” – a fever dream of a rock opera from agency Duncan Channon – uses a bunny-suited mascot, centaur clients, and saturated lava lamp visuals to take a shot at the encroachment of AI on ad creativity. The surreal ad is deliberately bonkers, but the message is clear: If we let machines fully run the show, adland might lose its soul (and storyline). Behind the neon glow and chaotic soundtrack is a playful “what if” question posed to an industry wrestling with the impact of automation.

The spot was cobbled together using an all-star lineup of generative tools—Midjourney, Runway, ChatGPT, Suno, Flow, and Higgsfield. It could not have been done without humans, though, as the YouTube description calls out. The final product feels more like cosmic satire than client-ready campaign, but that’s kind of the point. The AI-generated visuals and lyrics plunge headfirst into beautifully rendered nonsense, teasing what happens when AI efficiency is prioritized over emotional resonance.

While it may not move product, the ad delivers a blunt warning wrapped in glitter: AI can mimic our work, but it can’t replace the messy, unpredictable magic that comes from actual creatives. Duncan Channon reminds us—between guitar solos—that the future of advertising still needs a lot humanity in the mix.
